Mentor Ophthalmics

Mentor Ophthalmics was a specialized medical device company and a division of Mentor Corporation, focusing on diagnostic and surgical instruments for the eye care industry. The company is widely recognized for the development of the Tono-Pen, a handheld electronic tonometer that became an industry standard for measuring intraocular pressure. Its product portfolio also included ultrasonic pachymeters, such as the Advent, and various vision testing systems. In 2003, the Mentor ophthalmology product line was acquired by Reichert, Inc., which continues to manufacture and market the evolved versions of these diagnostic tools.
