Company intelligence / Profile preview
Menu Foods Income Fund was a leading North American contract manufacturer of wet pet food products for cats and dogs. Operating as a Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO), the company produced a wide variety of canned and pouched foods for major retailers and national brands across the United States and Canada. The company gained significant international attention in 2007 following a massive voluntary recall of over 60 million containers of pet food found to be contaminated with melamine and cyanuric acid. This event led to substantial financial and legal challenges for the fund. In 2010, Menu Foods was acquired by Simmons Pet Food, a subsidiary of Simmons Foods, and its operations were integrated into the acquirer's existing animal nutrition business.
