Merck Teknika

Organon Teknika was a prominent medical technology and pharmaceutical company originally established as a subsidiary of the Dutch conglomerate AkzoNobel. The company was a global leader in the development of specialized hospital products, particularly in the fields of anesthesiology and in vitro diagnostics. It is best known for pioneering the NASBA (Nucleic Acid Sequence Based Amplification) technology, which became a standard for molecular HIV-1 viral load testing. In 2001, the diagnostics division was acquired by bioMérieux, while the pharmaceutical assets, including a market-leading anesthesia portfolio, were eventually integrated into Merck & Co. (MSD) following its acquisition of Schering-Plough. Today, the legacy of the company persists through bioMérieux's molecular diagnostic platforms and Merck's hospital care business.
