The company's flagship product, the BreathTek UBT (Urea Breath Test), is a widely recognized diagnostic tool for the detection of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. This test utilizes a carbon-13 labeled urea substrate to identify the presence of urease, an enzyme produced by the bacteria. Meretek was acquired by Otsuka America Pharmaceutical in 2002, which expanded the reach of its diagnostic portfolio.
