Merrell-Tourade

Merrell-Tourade was a prominent French pharmaceutical company formed through the acquisition of Laboratoires Tourade by the Merrell division of Richardson-Merrell. The company was a significant contributor to pharmaceutical R&D in Europe, particularly through its research center in Strasbourg, France. It is historically recognized for the development and commercialization of major small molecule therapeutics, including the first non-sedating antihistamine, terfenadine, and the antiepileptic drug vigabatrin. Following a series of industry consolidations, the company became part of Marion Merrell Dow and was eventually absorbed into the global operations of Sanofi.
