Company intelligence / Profile preview
Metabolife was a leading U.S. multi-level marketing company selling the ephedra-based weight-loss supplement "Metabolife 356." The product achieved massive commercial success but was linked to thousands of serious adverse events, including deaths. Following regulatory scrutiny and an FDA ban on ephedra-containing supplements in the U.S., the company declared bankruptcy in 2005. Its non–ephedra assets were acquired by Ideasphere Inc.[1][2][3] No current clinical programs exist.
