MetaMed was a private U.S. healthcare services company focused on personalized medical research and medical consulting rather than drug development. The company assembled clinicians and researchers to review patient data, scientific literature, and available treatment options to produce individualized reports for complex medical cases. Its services targeted affluent consumers and physicians seeking high-touch, concierge-style decision support for conditions such as cancer, migraines, Lyme disease, and other difficult diagnoses. Founded in 2012 in New York, MetaMed received early backing from Peter Thiel and counted Michael Vassar, Jaan Tallinn, Zvi Mowshowitz, and Nevin Freeman among its founders. The company ceased operations in 2015 and does not appear to have developed a conventional therapeutic pipeline.
