Mexican Hass Avocado Importers Association

The Mexican Hass Avocado Importers Association (MHAIA) is a non-profit trade organization that represents the interests of importers of Hass avocados from Mexico into the United States. Established to manage the promotion and research of Mexican avocados, the association works closely with the Association of Avocado Exporting Producers and Packers of Mexico (APEAM) to support the 'Avocados From Mexico' brand. MHAIA funds extensive nutrition research to investigate the health benefits of avocado consumption, focusing on areas such as cardiovascular health, weight management, and type 2 diabetes. The organization operates under the oversight of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as part of a federal marketing order.
