Microalgae Ask Us (MAUS) is a South Korean biotechnology company specializing in the development, cultivation, and standardization of natural bio-materials derived from microalgae. Established in October 2020 as a spin-off from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), the company utilizes an advanced, land-based indoor tank-type smart-farming system and an AI-driven microalgae biological dataset library to produce high-value functional ingredients. Its flagship product, Tisochrysis lutea powder, is officially recognized by South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) as an individual health functional food ingredient for improving dry eye syndrome. Additionally, the company commercializes vegan cosmetics under its 'healara' brand, featuring fucoxanthin and microalgal extracts, and is expanding its pipeline into metabolic health, anti-obesity, and osteoarthritis treatments. MAUS operates as a subsidiary of Daesang Holdings, which acquired a majority stake in the company.
