Micromuscle

Micromuscle AB was a Swedish biotechnology company that specialized in the development of micro-actuators based on conducting polymers, commonly referred to as "artificial muscles." Spun out from research at Linköping University, the company's core technology utilized electroactive polymers like polypyrrole to create miniature devices capable of precise movement and force generation. These actuators were designed for integration into medical devices, such as steerable micro-catheters for minimally invasive surgery and micro-valves for controlled drug delivery systems. In 2005, Micromuscle was acquired by C-Bio AB to incorporate its micro-manipulation technology into advanced life science research tools and cell-based assay platforms.
