Company intelligence / Profile preview
Middle Kingdom Alliance (MKA) was a strategic consortium of leading Chinese contract research organizations (CROs) established in 2005 to provide international pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with a comprehensive, one-stop solution for clinical development in China. The alliance was designed to bridge the gap between Western regulatory standards and the Chinese clinical trial landscape, offering services ranging from regulatory affairs and site selection to Phase I-IV clinical monitoring and data management. Founding members included prominent entities such as Tigermed, Fountain Medical Development, and Excel PharmaStudies, which collaborated to offer a unified interface for global sponsors. While the alliance was highly influential in the early growth of the Chinese outsourcing industry, it effectively dissolved as its individual member companies grew into large, independent global organizations. Today, the legacy of MKA is seen in the success of its former members, many of which are now among the largest CROs in the Asia-Pacific region.
