Midland Tar Distillers was a prominent British chemical company specializing in the distillation of coal tar to produce a variety of chemical intermediates. The company played a significant role in the supply chain for the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries, notably producing pyridine and its derivatives used in the synthesis of vitamins and other drugs. Following a merger to become Midland-Yorkshire Tar Distillers, the business was eventually acquired by Croda International in 1975.
