Midwest Alliance for Patient Safety

The Midwest Alliance for Patient Safety (MAPS) is a federally certified Patient Safety Organization (PSO) and a non-profit subsidiary of the Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA). MAPS provides a privileged and confidential environment for healthcare providers to collect, analyze, and share data to improve patient safety and quality of care. By leveraging the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005, the organization offers legal protections for safety-related information, facilitating peer learning and the implementation of best practices across its member hospitals and health systems. Its services include adverse event reporting, root cause analysis support, and educational programs focused on reducing medical errors and improving clinical outcomes.
