Midwest Heart Foundation

The Midwest Heart Foundation was a non-profit research and education organization based in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, dedicated to the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease. Founded in 1981, it functioned as the clinical research and community outreach arm of Midwest Heart Specialists, participating in numerous landmark cardiology trials such as ROCKET AF and REVEAL. The foundation is most notably recognized for creating the 'Young Hearts for Life' (YH4L) Cardiac Screening Program, the largest initiative of its kind in the United States, which provides free EKG screenings to high school and college students to identify risks for sudden cardiac death. In 2012, following the merger of Midwest Heart Specialists with Advocate Medical Group, the foundation's activities and flagship programs were integrated into the Advocate Health Care system.
