Millennium Pharma

Millennium Pharmaceuticals, now operating as Takeda Oncology, is a biopharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, specializing in the development of treatments for cancer and inflammatory diseases. Founded in 1993, the company gained international recognition for its genomics-based drug discovery platform and the successful development of Velcade (bortezomib), a first-in-class proteasome inhibitor for multiple myeloma. In 2008, Millennium was acquired by Takeda Pharmaceutical Company for approximately $8.8 billion, serving as the foundation for Takeda's global oncology franchise.
