Mimetic Solutions

Mimetic Solutions was a biotechnology company based in Glasgow, Scotland, that specialized in advanced oral drug delivery systems. A spin-out from the University of Strathclyde, the company developed a proprietary pH-responsive polymer platform designed for site-specific drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. Their primary focus was on colon-targeted delivery for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as colorectal cancer. The technology aimed to improve the efficacy and safety of existing therapeutics by ensuring they reached the lower intestine without premature degradation in the stomach. Despite its innovative approach to controlled release, the company was dissolved in early 2021.
