Company intelligence / Profile preview
Mirexus Biotechnologies was a Canadian private biomaterials and biotechnology company that developed and commercialized plant-derived phytoglycogen nanoparticle products based on sweet corn. Its core platform centered on PhytoSpherix, a polysaccharide nanomaterial used across personal care, nutraceutical, and broader biomedical application areas, with branded products including PhytoSpherix, EnerZea, Adveen, and Susttain. The company originated from research at the University of Guelph and positioned its technology as a natural, sustainable alternative for formulations requiring hydration, skin energizing, encapsulation, and related functional benefits. In 2022, Mirexus completed the sale of substantially all of its assets, with core intellectual property and branded products transferred to Mibelle Biochemistry. Following that transaction, Mirexus appears to have ceased operating as an independent active company.
