Mitralife

MitraLife was a medical device company focused on developing a transcatheter mitral valve repair system for patients with mitral regurgitation. Founded as a portfolio company of the Shifamed medical device incubator, the company aimed to provide a less invasive, percutaneous alternative to traditional open-heart surgery. Its technology was designed to repair the mitral valve using a catheter-based approach, targeting a significant unmet need in structural heart disease. In 2017, MitraLife was acquired by Edwards Lifesciences as part of a strategic effort to expand their transcatheter valve repair and replacement portfolio. The acquisition allowed Edwards to integrate MitraLife's early-stage technology into its broader structural heart R&D pipeline.
