Company intelligence / Profile preview
MNLpharma was a UK-based biotechnology company specializing in the discovery and development of iminosugar-based therapeutics derived from natural sources. Founded in 1998 as MolecularNature, the company leveraged its proprietary Phytoquest platform to identify carbohydrate mimetics with potential applications in oncology, immunology, and infectious diseases. Its lead candidate, MNLP462a (casuarine), was an orally available small molecule immunomodulator and selective glucosidase inhibitor that demonstrated significant anti-tumor activity in preclinical models by inducing Th1 cytokines like IL-12 and IL-2. In December 2006, the company's core assets and technology platforms were acquired by Vastox (now Summit Therapeutics) for approximately £4 million. MNLpharma was subsequently dissolved in 2010.
