Mobay

Mobay was a prominent American chemical company founded in 1954 as a joint venture between Monsanto and Bayer. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the company specialized in the manufacture of polyurethanes, agricultural chemicals, and dyes. In 1967, Bayer acquired Monsanto's share, making Mobay a wholly-owned subsidiary. The company was a major supplier of raw materials for the plastics industry and developed numerous crop protection products. In 1992, Mobay merged with Miles Inc. and Agfa-Gevaert to consolidate Bayer's U.S. operations, eventually becoming part of Bayer Corporation in 1995. Mobay's legacy remains central to Bayer's historical footprint in the North American chemical and agricultural markets.
