MDS Inc. was a prominent Canadian global life sciences company that operated as a major service provider to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. The company was best known for its diverse divisions, including MDS Pharma Services, which provided contract research organization (CRO) services, and MDS Nordion, a leader in medical isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals. Additionally, its MDS Sciex division was a pioneer in mass spectrometry technology. Following a series of strategic divestitures in the late 2000s, the company's various business units were sold to major industry players such as Danaher and Ricerca Biosciences, and the remaining entity was eventually rebranded as Nordion Inc.
