Modi Antibiotics Limited was an Indian pharmaceutical company primarily focused on the manufacture of bulk drugs and antibiotic intermediates, most notably Penicillin-G. Established as part of the Umesh Modi Group, the company operated a significant manufacturing facility in Mandideep, Madhya Pradesh, intended to bolster domestic production of essential medicines. Throughout its history, the company faced severe financial challenges and was eventually categorized as a sick industrial unit under the Sick Industrial Companies Act (SICA). It was referred to the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) and has remained largely inactive for several decades. The company's assets have been the subject of various legal and debt recovery proceedings by Indian financial institutions.
