Molecular Cancer Therapeutics (MCT) was a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and early-stage development of novel anti-cancer agents. Founded by the prominent oncologist Dr. Daniel Von Hoff, the company leveraged a proprietary human tumor cloning assay platform to identify compounds with high potential for clinical success. Its lead candidate, tasidotin (MCT-1), was a synthetic peptide analog of dolastatin 15 that functioned as a microtubule inhibitor. The company's research was centered on identifying molecular targets that could be exploited to treat refractory solid tumors. MCT was acquired by Ilex Oncology in 2001 to expand its oncology pipeline.
