Monolythix

Monolythix was a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development of sustained-release drug delivery systems for the treatment of chronic diseases. The company utilized a proprietary bioerodible polymer platform to create solid-state formulations that provide controlled release of therapeutics over extended periods. Its primary application was in ophthalmology, specifically targeting glaucoma to improve patient compliance by replacing daily eye drops with long-acting injectables. In 2013, Monolythix was acquired by Envisia Therapeutics to enhance its pipeline of extended-release ocular products. The technology eventually contributed to the development of ENV515, a travoprost prodrug for glaucoma.
