Montefiore Health System

Montefiore Health System operates as one of New York’s leading academic health systems. It consists of 10+ hospitals and over 200 outpatient sites. The system has been recognized nationally for clinical excellence and innovation in patient-centered care. It serves as the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has pioneered risk-based contracts to improve quality while reducing costs. In population health management programs such as the Pioneer ACO initiative, it achieved high performance scores and significant cost savings while maintaining or improving quality metrics.

During the COVID‑19 pandemic, it was among the first in NYC to implement in-house PCR testing and served as a designated COVID center.

The system offers comprehensive services including primary/specialty care, advanced imaging, emergency medicine (one of the busiest ERs in the US), pediatrics via its Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein, cancer care through accredited centers like at Nyack Hospital, behavioral health services, home health programs—the full spectrum from prevention to complex tertiary/quaternary interventions.

Research activities are conducted primarily through its affiliation with Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
