Montigen Pharmaceuticals was a San Diego-based biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of novel small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of cancer. The company utilized a proprietary drug discovery platform to identify and optimize inhibitors of key signal transduction pathways involved in tumor growth and survival. Its lead candidate, MP-470 (amuvatinib), was a multi-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor designed to overcome drug resistance in various solid tumors. In 2006, Montigen was acquired by SuperGen, which later became Astex Pharmaceuticals, to bolster its oncology pipeline.
