Company intelligence / Profile preview
Montigen Pharmaceuticals was a San Diego-based biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of novel small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of cancer. The company utilized a proprietary drug discovery platform to identify and optimize inhibitors of key signal transduction pathways involved in tumor growth and survival. Its lead candidate, MP-470 (amuvatinib), was a multi-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor designed to overcome drug resistance in various solid tumors. In 2006, Montigen was acquired by SuperGen, which later became Astex Pharmaceuticals, to bolster its oncology pipeline. The acquisition integrated Montigen's discovery capabilities and its promising lead asset into SuperGen's portfolio.
