Moorfields Pharmaceuticals was the commercial pharmaceutical arm of the Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, based in London. The company was a specialist manufacturer of ophthalmic products, providing a comprehensive range of licensed medicines and 'specials' to treat various eye conditions. Its expertise included the production of preservative-free eye drops and complex formulations for rare ocular diseases that were not met by mass-market manufacturers. In 2016, the company was acquired by Rayner, a global leader in intraocular lens manufacturing, to form the basis of Rayner's pharmaceutical division. This acquisition allowed Rayner to offer a broader range of ophthalmic solutions alongside its surgical products.
