Morgan Stanley Venture Partners (MSVP) was the dedicated venture capital and growth equity investment arm of Morgan Stanley, specializing in late-stage venture and early growth-stage investments. The firm was a prominent financier in the healthcare and life sciences sectors, funding numerous biotechnology, medical device, and healthcare service companies throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. In 2004, the MSVP investment team spun out from Morgan Stanley to establish Metalmark Capital as an independent private equity firm. During its active years, MSVP managed several billion dollars across multiple funds and played a significant role in the development of the modern biotech financing landscape.
