Morishita Pharmaceutical

Morishita Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (森下製薬株式会社) was a Japanese pharmaceutical company founded in 1919 as Nippon Yakuhin Yoko and renamed in 1945. The company was a pioneer in clinical nutrition, launching Moriamin, the world's first crystalline amino acid infusion solution, in 1956. Ajinomoto Co., Inc. became a major capital partner in 1955, collaborating on several amino acid-based therapeutics and clinical nutrition products. In 1992, Morishita Pharmaceutical merged with Roussel Medica to form Morishita Roussel, which eventually integrated into Hoechst Marion Roussel (now Sanofi) through subsequent mergers. Its legacy infusion and clinical nutrition business was later acquired back by Ajinomoto to form Ajinomoto Pharma, which is now part of EA Pharma and AY Pharmaceuticals.
