Morphochem

Morphochem was a German biotechnology company focused on the development of innovative small molecule drugs using its proprietary combinatorial chemistry platform. Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Munich, the company developed the MORE (Multi-component Reaction) technology to accelerate the drug discovery process. Its primary focus was on the anti-infective space, specifically developing "dual-action" antibiotics that target multiple bacterial pathways to overcome resistance. The company's lead candidate, MCB-3837, was developed for the treatment of severe Clostridioides difficile infections and reached Phase 2 clinical trials. Morphochem was acquired by BioVertis in 2005, and its key assets were subsequently progressed through various partnerships and acquisitions, including a notable deal with Deinove.
