Company intelligence / Profile preview
Mosaic Technologies was a molecular diagnostics and platform technology company that developed foundational methods for DNA amplification and immobilization. The company's most significant contribution to the life sciences was the invention of Bridge Amplification, a process that allows for the localized amplification of DNA on a solid surface, which later became the core technology for Illumina's sequencing-by-synthesis platforms. Mosaic also commercialized Acrydite, a proprietary chemical modification used to covalently attach DNA to hydrogel-based microarrays. The company's assets and technologies were acquired by Apogent Technologies in 2001, eventually becoming part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific ecosystem.
