Overview
MRC Biotech Pty Ltd was an Australian biotechnology company focused on the development of novel anticancer therapeutics through the repositioning of existing drugs. The company's lead program, MRC202, was a reformulated version of the anthelmintic drug albendazole, which was investigated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of malignant ascites and peritoneal cancers. MRC Biotech aimed to leverage the anti-tubulin properties of albendazole to inhibit tumor growth and reduce fluid accumulation in late-stage cancer patients. The company also explored a second candidate, MRC304, for similar oncology indications before its operations were discontinued in 2015.
