MTCC

The Microbial Type Culture Collection and Gene Bank (MTCC) is a premier biological resource center and a national facility in India dedicated to the conservation and supply of microbial resources. Established as a joint venture between the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), it serves as an International Depositary Authority (IDA) under the Budapest Treaty. MTCC provides essential services to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, including microbial identification, deposit for patent purposes, and the supply of authentic reference cultures. Its extensive collection supports research in drug discovery, fermentation technology, and the development of live biotherapeutic products.
