Mullikin Medical Centers, also known as Mullikin Medical Group, was a prominent California-based physician organization and a pioneer in the managed care industry. Founded by Dr. Walter Mullikin, the company operated a network of clinics and provided comprehensive healthcare services through capitated contracts with health maintenance organizations (HMOs). At its peak, it was one of the largest independent medical groups in the United States, managing care for hundreds of thousands of patients across multiple states. In 1995, the company was acquired by MedPartners in a landmark deal that significantly consolidated the physician practice management sector.
