Munich Biotech

Munich Biotech was a German private oncology biotech company based in Neuried near Munich that developed cancer imaging and therapeutic products aimed at solid tumors. Its core approach was "neovascular targeting," designed to selectively deliver agents to newly formed blood vessels in tumors for imaging and antivascular treatment. Reported programs included MBT-0206, a paclitaxel-containing cationic lipid complex, and an earlier diagnostic dye program; available secondary sources indicate the pipeline did not advance beyond preclinical or was discontinued. The company was founded in 1998, raised venture funding from investors including Medigene, 3i Group, Global Life Science Ventures, DEWB, and TBG, and later entered insolvency. Substantial assets and technology were subsequently acquired by Medigene, after which Munich Biotech ceased operating as an independent active biotech company.
