Company intelligence / Profile preview
MyoContract AG was a Swiss biopharmaceutical company founded in 2000 as a spin-off from the Biozentrum of the University of Basel. The company specialized in the discovery and development of small molecule therapies for orphan neuromuscular and metabolic diseases, with a primary focus on conditions like Friedreich's Ataxia and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. In 2004, MyoContract merged with the German drug discovery firm Graffinity Pharmaceuticals AG to form Santhera Pharmaceuticals AG. This strategic combination integrated MyoContract's clinical-stage pipeline and biological expertise with Graffinity's proprietary chemical screening technologies. At the time of the merger, MyoContract's lead candidate was idebenone (SNT-MC17), which was being advanced for multiple neuromuscular indications.
