NV-Research was a private biotechnology company based in Jersey, Channel Islands, that specialized in the development of monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of chronic pain. The company's primary focus was on inhibiting Nerve Growth Factor (NGF), a validated target for various pain conditions including osteoarthritis and neuropathic pain. Its lead candidate, NV-01, was a humanized monoclonal antibody designed to provide a potent and selective alternative to traditional analgesics. In 2010, the company was acquired by AstraZeneca through its biologics arm, MedImmune, to bolster its pain management pipeline. Following the acquisition, the lead asset was integrated into AstraZeneca's portfolio as MEDI-578.
