Nanobac Pharmaceuticals was a biotechnology company that specialized in the study and treatment of pathological calcification, which it attributed to "nanobacteria" or calcifying nanoparticles. The company developed diagnostic tests and treatments aimed at these particles, which they claimed were a primary cause of conditions like atherosclerosis, kidney stones, and prostatitis. Their lead product, Nanobiotic, utilized a combination of the chelating agent EDTA and nutraceuticals to address arterial plaque. While the company gained significant attention in the early 2000s, its theories faced substantial scientific criticism, with many researchers concluding that nanobacteria were non-living mineral complexes rather than biological organisms. Nanobac eventually ceased active operations and its stock was delisted from major exchanges.
