National Coordinating Centre of Clinical Trials

CENCEC (Centro Nacional Coordinador de Ensayos Clínicos) is Cuba's national contract research organization (CRO), responsible for the design, management, and monitoring of clinical trials for drugs, biologics, and medical devices. Established in 1991 and headquartered in Havana, it serves as the central hub for clinical research within the Cuban National Health System and works in close coordination with the BioCubaFarma biotech cluster. The center provides a comprehensive suite of services including protocol development, data management, statistical analysis, and regulatory submission support. CENCEC has been instrumental in the clinical development of Cuba's most innovative products, such as the CIMAvax-EGF lung cancer vaccine and the Abdala COVID-19 vaccine. By adhering to international Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, CENCEC ensures the quality and integrity of data required for both domestic and international regulatory approvals.
