National E-Health Transition Authority

The National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA) was an Australian organization established to develop and implement the necessary standards and infrastructure for a national electronic health system. Founded in 2005 and funded by the Australian federal, state, and territory governments, NEHTA led the development of the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR), now known as My Health Record. The authority focused on creating interoperability across the Australian healthcare sector through standardized clinical terminologies, unique identifiers for individuals and providers, and secure messaging protocols. In July 2016, NEHTA's functions were transitioned into the newly formed Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA).
