National Health Fund

The National Health Fund (NHF) is a statutory body of the Government of Jamaica, established in 2003 to provide financial assistance to residents for healthcare services and prescription medications. The organization operates several programs, most notably the NHF Card, which provides subsidies for medications treating 17 chronic illnesses, and the Jamaica Drug for the Elderly Programme (JADEP). Beyond individual subsidies, the NHF manages the 'Drug Serv' network of public pharmacies and provides significant grant funding for health-related infrastructure and public health projects. As a central pillar of the Jamaican healthcare system, the NHF focuses on improving access to essential medicines and reducing the economic burden of chronic disease management. It also plays a role in the procurement and distribution of pharmaceuticals for the public health sector.
