The National Nuclear Laboratory has developed processes to extract high-purity medical radioisotopes from nuclear waste streams. Recent breakthroughs include scalable production routes for Lead-212 used in targeted cancer therapies. NNL collaborates with academic partners to enable clinical trials and routine NHS use of these radiotherapeutics. They are also developing domestic UK capacity for critical medical isotopes previously imported from abroad. No direct clinical trial results as NNL supplies materials rather than running trials themselves.
