National Patient Safety Foundation

The National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) was a leading non-profit organization dedicated to improving the safety of patients within the healthcare system. Founded in 1997, the foundation served as a central voice for patient safety advocacy, research, and education, aiming to prevent medical errors and harm. NPSF was well-known for establishing the Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) credential and hosting the annual Patient Safety Congress. In May 2017, the organization merged with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) to consolidate resources and accelerate the pace of safety improvement in global healthcare.
