Company intelligence / Profile preview
Naturxan was a joint venture established in 2004 between Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and Fuji Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. to market and distribute natural astaxanthin. The company focused on the AstaReal brand, a high-potency antioxidant derived from the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis. Naturxan provided astaxanthin as a bulk ingredient for the dietary supplement, functional food, and cosmetic industries. The venture combined ADM's extensive distribution network and fermentation expertise with Fuji Chemical's proprietary cultivation technology. In 2007, Fuji Chemical Industry acquired ADM's interest in the venture, leading to the dissolution of Naturxan and the consolidation of the astaxanthin business under Fuji's AstaReal subsidiary.
