Corindus Vascular Robotics, originally founded as NaviCath in 2002, is a pioneer in the field of robotic-assisted vascular interventions. The company developed the CorPath System, the first and only FDA-cleared medical device that allows interventional cardiologists to perform percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) from a radiation-protected cockpit. By providing millimeter-level precision in the manipulation of guidewires and stents, the system enhances procedural accuracy and significantly reduces radiation exposure for the medical team. Following its success in cardiology, Corindus expanded its platform to include peripheral and neurovascular applications, including the treatment of stroke. In 2019, the company was acquired by Siemens Healthineers for $1.1 billion, marking a major milestone in the integration of robotics into advanced medical imaging and intervention.
