Nectarine Acquisition Corp. was a specialized subsidiary of Gilead Sciences created to facilitate the $21 billion acquisition of Immunomedics in 2020. The primary objective of this entity was to execute a tender offer for Immunomedics, thereby securing the blockbuster oncology asset Trodelvy (sacituzumab govitecan-hziy). Trodelvy is a first-in-class antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) targeting Trop-2, which is highly expressed in various solid tumors. The acquisition was a pivotal moment for Gilead, marking its aggressive expansion into the oncology market and solidifying its pipeline in breast and bladder cancers. Following the successful merger, Nectarine Acquisition Corp. was integrated into the parent organization, and Trodelvy has since become a core driver of Gilead's pharmaceutical revenue.
