NeoCART study

Histogenics was a regenerative medicine company focused on developing and commercializing novel tissue therapies for the repair of skeletal tissues, particularly articular cartilage. Its lead product candidate, NeoCart, was an autologous cell therapy designed to treat knee cartilage defects using a patient's own cells grown on a proprietary scaffold. Despite reaching Phase 3 clinical trials, the NeoCart study failed to meet its primary endpoint in 2018, leading the company to cease operations and eventually merge with Ocugen in a reverse merger. The NeoCart assets were subsequently sold to a private entity for further development.
