Company intelligence / Profile preview
Neon Therapeutics was a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company pioneering neoantigen-targeted therapies to direct the immune system against cancer. Its lead program, NEO-PV‑01, showed promising early results in combination with checkpoint inhibitors in melanoma, lung, and bladder cancers. The company also developed personalized T cell therapies such as NEO‑PTC‑01 and precision approaches like NEO-STC‑01 targeting shared RAS neoantigens. After its acquisition by BioNTech in May 2020 for approximately $67–74 million, Neon’s pipeline became part of BioNTech’s broader immunotherapy portfolio. Early data on the next-generation BN/BNT221 program showed limited responses but some tumor shrinkage in heavily pretreated melanoma patients.
