Neotonus

Neotonus was a medical device company that pioneered the use of Extracorporeal Magnetic Innervation (ExMI) for the treatment of pelvic floor disorders. The company developed the NeoControl Pelvic Floor Therapy System, a non-invasive 'chair' that uses pulsed magnetic fields to stimulate and strengthen pelvic floor muscles and nerves. This technology provided a conservative treatment option for conditions such as urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, and erectile dysfunction. Neotonus received FDA clearance for its primary indications before being acquired by Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (KCI) in 2003. The acquisition allowed KCI to integrate Neotonus's magnetic stimulation technology into its broader portfolio of therapeutic medical devices.
