Company intelligence / Profile preview
The Neuropsychiatric Research Institute (NRI) was a non-profit research organization based in Fargo, North Dakota, that specialized in the study and treatment of eating disorders, obesity, and behavioral health. Founded in 1955, the institute established a global reputation for its clinical and translational research, particularly in developing evidence-based treatments for bulimia and anorexia and investigating the physiological and psychological outcomes of bariatric surgery. NRI was a pioneer in the application of Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) to capture real-time data on patient behavior and mood in natural environments. In 2018, the institute merged with Sanford Health to become the Center for Biobehavioral Research (CBR) within Sanford Research. The organization continues to lead high-impact clinical trials and collaborative research aimed at improving outcomes for patients with complex psychiatric and metabolic conditions.
